Windows Phone Beta 2 tools and Mango bits are now available for App Hub Developers!
Today Microsoft announced via the Windows Phone Developer Blog the availability of updated Mango developer tools known as Tools Beta 2. This updated toolset will provide developers with additional capabilities and an updated emulator.
More importantly, Microsoft announced that registered developers who have a developer unlocked retail Windows Phone will be able to update their phone to a beta release of ‘Mango’ by downloading the Mango “bits.” Developers who download Mango will be able to test their Mango apps before submitting to Marketplace later this summer. With this release of the developer tools, developers will be prompted to download tools with the new ‘Windows SDK’ name versus “Windows Phone 7.”
To encourage students to begin developer apps for Mango, Windows Phone has set aside 50 Mango phones for students to build the next big thing for Windows Phone. To participate, students will need to be registered with the DreamSpark program and follow the contest rules for their chance to win a new Mango phone.
Developers that have Registered to App Hub will get their invitation to download Mango bits end of this day.
How cool is that!
